Daddy Date

So this morning, I notice that my family has gone missing.  I wander into Leah's room and find this scene....Leah, Anna and Daddy all at her play table, complete with tablecloth and fake food.  Leah turns to me and says "No Mommy, you need to leave.  This is MY date with Daddy, not yours."

A Few Too Many

Thank you, Leah, for giving Anna more Cheerios....A LOT more.

Wow - That's a Mess!

Portraits

This past Saturday, we had a professional photographer come to Minnie and Papa's house to get a family photo of us all, as well as individual portraits of each family member.  Anna did so well, she smiled and laughed and sat in her red rocker.  Leah, on the other hand, was a wild woman.  Whatever we asked her to do, she did the exact opposite....like a two-and-a-half year old does.  This photo pretty much sums up the experience....

9 Month Check-Up

Our little Anna Bug had her 9 month old check up on Wednesday at the pediatrician.  She is a growing girl!  Anna weighs 21 pounds, 13 ounces and is 29.5 inches tall.  She is in the 95th percentile for both height and weight.  The doctor commented on how social and sweet-natured she is.  She has been battling the yucky nose/sinuses for about 3 weeks now and cannot seem to kick it, so the doctor prescribed her some Amoxicillin to hopefully get that cleared up.  She got her toe pricked to check her iron and lead levels.  Ouchie.

Pumpkin Patch

On Tuesday, I accompanied Leah and her preschool class to Oakhaven Farm in Ruffin. We had a really nice time. I highly recommend this attraction for families. The farm was beautiful, clean and fun! We had a hayless hayride, played on huge haybales, rode the barrel train, climbed on "Charlotte's Web", shot the corn gun, pet farm animals, jumped on a huge bouncing pillow, and more! There is a corn crib to play in, a haunted house and a corn maze however we didn't allow the little ones to visit those areas.  Each kid got to pick a pumpkin to take home.

Just for Comparison

Tweetsie

This past Saturday, we took the girls to Tweetsie Railroad in Blowing Rock, NC.  Minnie and Papa met us there since they'd been vacationing in the mountains for several days prior.  The weather was perfect - in the mid 70s with a slight breeze.  Leah has expressed an interest in trains for a while now and we thought it would be fun to take her to ride a real one.

Unfortunately, she wasn't as excited about it as we thought she'd be.  However, Anna LOVED it.  She smiled and laughed the whole time we were on the train.   Leah talks about the train ride now, like it was the coolest thing ever.  But at the time, she wasn't diggin' it.
She says "I went to Teetsie and rode the Doo Doo Nain!"

Tweetsie also has other rides and attractions.  We rode a few things with her.  Here are some photos to commemorate our experience.

Ouchie!

Anna got a boo-boo last night.  We have a round cinderblock that is painted as a Jack-O-Lantern and it's used as a doorstop.  Anna crawled over to it and turned it over onto her little thumb.  The edge of the doorstop hit her thumbnail and cracked it at the base.  There was a lot of blood and many minutes of screaming and crying.  This morning her little thumb is purple and swollen and she will definitely lose the nail on that thumb.  Poor little baby :(

Campfire

Saturday night, we had a campfire for the girls.  Ya-Ya, Mom, Dad, and Meredith came over to enjoy it with us.  We had s'mores and tried to stay warm.  Leah really enjoyed gathering wood with Papa.

Stink Bug Catastrophe

Anna decided she needed to eat a stink bug.  I noticed Anna had a strange look on her face and she was chewing something.  As I got closer, I could already smell what was in her mouth....a STINK BUG!  I raked it out with my finger and half its legs were missing, the other half were still kicking.  GROSS.

I called Poison Control (again) and they informed me that stink bugs are not toxic, however the smelly stuff they emit may irritate Anna's mouth.  They recommended I give her some water to rinse her mouth out, but that she should be just fine.   Ewww.
